Hey all. I apologise for the fact the Opus hasn't had a new contest in the past month. I've had a few things going on at home and not had the time to focus on this group.
We appear to have cleared our list of hosts and are now looking for people to host the next few contests. This involves picking a theme, gathering prizes, accepting entries and judging the entries when the contest is over. If you are interested please give the group a note and we will see about promoting you to host
I would love to participate, although I have a little question as to how hosts usually gather prizes? I have points myself, but to get as much prizes as one can...?
I generally do a journal shout out, ask friends, note a few emoticonists and ask on the contest journal itself. I think the 2 most important parts is a) to make it clear that features/art work are good donations too b) be polite in asking. So want me to note you down as a future host?
I would, but I only have 32 points. I couldn't offer very many point prizes.
You don't have to offer expensive prizes for an opus to be successful. Generally gathering a few features and art donations makes a good enough prize list to generate interest
