Info

Emoticon opus is the emoticon community’s contest group. Every 1-2 weeks a new contest is launched by a member of the community with a specific theme or topic. Emoticonists are then challenged to create an emote on the specified theme and submit is as an entry.

When the contest closes, the host picks their 3 favourites and awards them 1st, 2nd and 3rd place. The first place prize will include an ‘eternal feature in EmoticonOpus’s shoutboard’ and additional prizes vary from contest to contest (depending on the generosity of the host and the emote community).

Rules

- Any deviant is free to enter an opus contest, regardless of their past emoticon experience

- To enter an opus contest, you must be a member of the EmoticonOpus group

- Your entry MUST be connected to the current contest theme

- Your entry MUST be created exclusively for the Emoticon Opus. Emotes created previously or for other challenges will not be accepted.

- Your entry MUST include at least 1 pixel based emoticon. Entries made in Flash will not be accepted

- Entries can be either static or animated unless specified differently within the contest theme

- Your entry MUST NOT exceed 400x400 pixels. Please also ensure excess unused space is kept to a minimum

- You are allowed a maximum of 3 entries to a single contest

Submitting an entry

All entries must be submitted to the EmoticonOpus gallery. To be able to submit an entry, you must first become a member of the group. You can do this by going to the EmoticonOpus page and selecting ‘join our group’.

Once you are a member, there are 2 ways of submitting an emote.

1) When uploading the emoticon to your dA account select ‘submit to EmoticonOpus on the submission page

2) Head over to the Opus gallery page and click the ‘submit to this gallery button’ and browse for the entry from your gallery.

Your entry will then need 2 positive votes from the group admins to be accepted into the contest. Please be patient while this takes place. If you are submitting an entry close to the deadline, as long as your entry has applied to be added to the gallery it will be accepted as a valid entry even if the contest closes while it is waiting for votes.

If you have any questions or concerns about EmoticonOpus just send us a note and we’ll get back to you :)
